LakehouseBox compared

Where to keep analytical data for an agent: the managed Iceberg services and hosted DuckDB, side by side, with sources.

The comparisons

  • LakehouseBox vs Amazon S3 Tables: Both keep Apache Iceberg tables behind a managed catalog. S3 Tables is part of AWS; LakehouseBox is a small European service that an agent can start without an account.
  • LakehouseBox vs Snowflake Open Catalog and Horizon: Snowflake serves Iceberg tables to outside engines through its Horizon Catalog; its managed Polaris service, Open Catalog, no longer takes new customers. LakehouseBox is a catalog and its storage, nothing else.
  • LakehouseBox vs Cloudflare Basin Catalog (R2 Data Catalog): Cloudflare's Iceberg catalog on R2, called R2 Data Catalog until its general availability on 1 October 2026, is now Basin Catalog. Both are managed Iceberg REST catalogs over their own storage.
  • LakehouseBox vs MotherDuck: MotherDuck is hosted DuckDB: storage and compute together, in its own format. LakehouseBox stores open Iceberg tables and your engine brings the compute (in a chat, a capped query runs on our side). Both let an agent start without an account.

Each page states the other service's facts as its own pages gave them on 12 October 2026, and says when to choose it instead.
