For agents

An agent that keeps an eye on your data.

A prompt LakehouseBox runs for you on a schedule: it reads your tables, remembers what it saw last time, and emails you what matters.

Say what to watch and when to hear about it

Name the table, the schedule and what the email should tell you. Say you don't want to run anything yourself.

In LakehouseBox I have a table that fills itself with Valencia's weather every hour (demo_data.weather.valencia_hourly). Every Monday at 8 I'd like an email with a short summary of last week: warmest and coldest hours, rain, anything unusual. I don't want to run anything myself. Follow lakehousebox.com/docs/

LakehouseBox has a feature built for this, called hosted agents: it runs a short prompt against your table on a schedule and emails you the result.

First, approve this computer in your browser. Read on your catalog is all I need: the agent only reads your data.

Example replies show what to expect. Your agent adapts to your setup.

Approve read access

Approve your agent's sign-in. Read is enough here: the scheduled agent reads your tables and emails you; it changes nothing. Hosted agents are a preview: if your agent reports "not enabled", write to hello@lakehousebox.com.

Your agent writes it and tests it first

A test run does everything except send: you see the email it would write before anything reaches your inbox.

Approved, read on demo_data.

I've set it up. LakehouseBox now runs a small agent called valencia_weekly every Monday at 08:00 Madrid time. It reads your weather table and emails you:

  • the warmest and coldest hours, daily highs and lows, the week's average
  • total rain, the rainiest day and how many hours had rain
  • the strongest gust, and one line on anything unusual

It remembers each week's numbers, so the next email can compare. Test run: it read the table and wrote the email correctly; the email was recorded, not sent. Your table only has data from today, so tomorrow's first email will say how many of the week's hours it had.

  • Runs on LakehouseBox, every Monday at 08:00 Madrid time
  • Reads only the catalog you approved
  • Tested before its first email
What a scheduled agent can and cannot do

It reads the catalogs you choose, keeps a few notes between runs, and emails you (and colleagues who subscribe) at most a few times a day. You can let it read web pages you name, add rows to tables you name, or use tools you connect. It cannot change anything else, and it runs on models hosted in the EU. Every run is recorded: what it read, what it sent. Every email has a "Stop emails from this agent" link, and you can pause it from your account page or by asking your agent.

  • Send me this week's summary now, as a test.

  • Also tell me when it rains more than 10 mm in an hour.

  • Let my colleague subscribe to the Monday email.
